“This stunning song cycle of redemption and reclamation adds an orchestral-pop sheen to June’s gorgeous blend of astral folk and meditative R&B.” – Rolling Stone
Born and raised in the flatlands of West Tennessee, Valerie June is an artist steeped in the deep, musical culture which surrounded her, but June is also a woman who wears many hats: musician, singer, songwriter, poet, illustrator, actor, author, and a certified yoga and mindfulness meditation instructor. Having recorded three critically acclaimed, best-selling solo albums, June skillfully weaves a tapestry of folk, soul, gospel, country, blues, psychedelia, and symphonic pop.
June’s latest full-length album, The Moon and Stars: Prescriptions for Dreamers, reflects her spellbinding vocals and infectious sense of wonder. June gently eases the listener into a charmed state of mind, one that quickly restores a powerful feeling of joyful possibility. June collaborated on this celestial album with Grammy-winning producer Jack Splash, who has worked with prominent figures such as Kendrick Lamar, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Mary J. Blige, and so many more.
June received a Grammy nomination for Best American Roots Song for “Call Me a Fool,” her moving duet featuring the iconic Carla Thomas, and she has written songs for other industry legends such as Mavis Staples and the Blind Boys of Alabama. She honorably served as a Turnaround artist working with students for the President’s Committee for the Arts and Humanities and continues serving through the Kennedy Center.
