GPAC Youth Symphony Program: Rhythms of Change

  • Venue: Duncan-Williams Performance Hall 1801 Exeter Road Germantown, TN, 38138 United States (map)

It’s inevitable, right? Nights get cooler, leaves turn color, and we dig out the cardigans that we put up last spring. Change is exciting, but also predictable in that it is a shared trait of living through life. Music is the same! The surprising changes are what keep us engaged; make us turn our head (or ear) and lean in to the experience of the moment that is unfolding. It is, however, all grounded in an unrelenting pulse: a rhythm of change. This semester, the GPAC Youth Symphony Program will tap into that flowing current of change with a concert on Sunday, November 19 featuring the Mozart String Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Mendelssohn String Orchestra, the GYSO String Quartets, and the Youth Symphony Orchestra. Through works including “Fiddles at Sea” by Kathryn Griesinger, Aaron Copland’s “Hoedown,” “Jubilations” by Bruce Pearson, and Franz Joseph Haydn’s “Symphony 99 in Eb Major,” GYSP invites you to lean in and enjoy the surprising twists and turns that unfold through our program: Rhythms of Change.
