See Me, Hear Me, I am Human by Jin Powell

Jin Powell received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Central Academy of Fine Art in Beijing in 1985. She came to Memphis in 1995, opening a casting and fabrication studio with her husband, John Powell. She received her MFA degree from Memphis College of Art in 2016.

Exhibitions displayed in the galleries at Askew Nixon Ferguson Architects generally feature landscapes, cityscapes, seascapes and genre subjects, that is to say, representational work with occasional forays into abstraction. Depending on the artists, these exhibitions can be staid and familiar or interesting and intriguing. What we don’t expect are social commentary, anger and sorrow.
